Revolutions have existed from the dawn of creation. They correspond to decisive moments in the course of history. Just as it is impossible to prevent a volcano erupting, so is it impossible to oppose the explosion of a popular revolution. That the Libyan Revolution has succeeded is thanks to the wisdom of those who forged it with the aim of creating for their people better conditions of life.
The Al-Fateh Revolution has brought about a total transformation of Libya. It has unified the state and Libyan people and offered them a single destiny, freeing them from slavery and opening up the way to self-respect, economic independence, the assumption of their own destiny, on the basis of fruitful cooperation, revolutionary independence and personal self-enhancement.
The need for liberty, independence and justice felt by the mass of the Libyan people has largely been satisfied - that at least is the conclusion which one can reach - by a Guide who has appeared for no other reason than to be at the service of the people.
This Guide is the Revolutionary Al-Qadhafi. Brother Al-Qadhafi is the natural product of Africa. He has the wisdom and breadth of views which make him the ideal guide of the Al-Fateh Revolution. The power of this revolution is such that it can make its mark on all aspects of existence. The Revolution is for Libyans like the air they breath and light by which they see.
Thanks to the Revolution, the Libyan people, who formerly lived in a state of ignorance and barbarity, have become an organized and civilized people.
The achievements of the Revolution are so apparent that they have put an end to idle debate and all vain sophistry. These are achievements founded on undeniable realities, which have been in scribed with total clarity on historical facts. The Libyan Revolution at the present time is based on four truths or, more properly speaking, on four pillars. These are the wisdom of our leader and Guide Muammar Al- Qadhafi, his justice, his fervour and courage. He is the revolutionary Arab and Muslim leader who has devoted his entire life to the cause of assuring the people their liberty and happiness and for the achievement of victory in the cause of the Jamahirs and the Jamahiriya.
In his gift to humanity of the Third Universal Theory, the Guide has given us a banner under which we can unite, has lit up the way forward for our people and thanks to his consummate skill and his unshakeable determination, he has led the people along the path of total victory. In so doing, he has accomplished memorable great deeds and actions of unique illustriousness in the already rich history of our continent.
The profound dignity of the Great Jamahiriya, the prosperity and glory which is that of the Arab Libyan people and the credit for all this great achievement is due to the skill and wisdom of the exceptional Guide and to his constant devotion to the cause.
Al-Qadhafi - The Myth
Nobody today talks of Libya without in the same breath mentioning the name of Muammar Al-Qadhafi, the extraordinary guide and legendary hero of revolutionaries the world over. Even his enemies are charmed by his unassuming manner and his unrivalled love of mankind. Children throughout the world delight to learn the facts of his exemplary life.
The existence of Al-Qadhafi is closely related to the historical development of humanity itself, to the struggle of mankind and to the long fight for revolutionary justice. Muammar Al- Qadhafi is justly considered as the leader of his epoch, as an upholder of the rights of the persecuted, of the oppressed and humiliated, and of all those rejected by society. The noble humanitarian principles of Al- Qadhafi are beginning now to win clear acceptance not only within the internal but also the external political environment.
The love felt by our guide towards mankind, for the revolution and for justice extends beyond that felt for his people and his own country, and embraces the persecuted and oppressed of the whole world. The African, Arab and Latin American peoples quite rightly and properly feel towards him the consideration and respect that one would have towards a father. In effect, he is filled with love, compassion and friendship for these peoples. Additionally, he possesses the consummate art of convincing even the most obstinate of those with whom he comes into contact, through the power and the pertinence of his reasoning, since he is able to win them over and delight them with his remarkable conversational powers.
His generosity and magnanimity have contributed to creating such an atmosphere of relaxation among all those who have paid him visits whether from Africa, Arabia, the Caribbean, the Latin American countries, and elsewhere that in his presence, as if by an enchantment, the useless rituals demanded by official protocol fall away. Conversation with Al- Qadhafi provides a sense of intimate personal contact. One feels as if one is speaking with an old friend, and the telling of stories and jokes is not regarded as out of order. Inspired by his love of humanity, Al- Qadhafi developed the third universal theory for the final achievement of the popular revolution in the field of personal behaviour and the building of one's own personality, a theory which provides clear and precise answers to problems of democracy and social and economic organization.
The objective of the Third Universal Theory is, in sum, to grant the popular masses the right to decide their own destiny within the context of the revolution and of progress. These masses are the only force capable of impelling ever onwards both revolution and progress.
On this point, the position of Al- Qadhafi is different from that of other revolutionary leaders. In fact he believes that in order successfully to draw on the resources of a country it is necessary to rely only on and be responsible to the Jamahiriya (the masses). Only the masses are capable of building their own future.
As African revolutionaries, we perfectly understand that the practical application of the Third Universal Theory means application of principles aiming at providing for all problems hindering the onward progress of revolutionary construction solutions compatible with African reality. Such solutions must moreover be the fruit of our own personal effort. Revolutionaries from the world over consider that the Third Universal Theory is at the present time the only way forward, one which allows them the possibility of preserving total independence. The theory invites them to make a great creative effort as they advance down the path of revolutionary construction.
In a spirit of solidarity with the collective struggle against the forces of imperialism and their lackeys, a struggle in which Al- Qadhafi is the standard bearer, the principles of our common fight are beginning to take clear shape. In effect we from now on have a clear vision of the future which we have within our grasp as a result of our political and economic experience and particularly as a result of the fact that we rely on ourselves alone for the defence of our national interests.
Al- Qadhafi has devised the Third Universal Theory which has given birth the to the era of the Jamahiriyas. What Al- Qadhafi wishes is to achieve decisive success in the building of socialism, and to do so as on the basis of the Jamahiriyas, massing wave upon wave in the consciousness of their strength. At the present time, the Third Universal Theory is not limited to placing itself at the service of the Libyan people in their revolutionary combat, but is widely circulated and commented upon as a means and basis of Arab and African unity.
The Third Universal Theory is our intellectual guide. It acts also as the Mentor for our time. In all areas of life, Libya has achieved spectacular levels of performance under the enlightened leadership of Al- Qadhafi. In particular, successes are:
A - Edification of an independent and strong national economy, in line with the aspiration of numbers of the world's peoples.
B - Adoption of an independent political line as a result of the application of the Third Universal Theory.
C - Orientation of agricultural production towards the satisfaction of the needs of the people.
D - Care and concern for the prosperity of the people contrary to what is done in the capitalist countries - this being the only real force capable of ensuring social progress.
E - Acknowledge the supreme importance of teaching within the context of the Jamahirian Revolution (the system of teaching within the Great Jamahiriya is considered as one of the most advanced in the world. In all its aspects, this system is in the service of the people.)
This is a Jamahirian Revolution, a total revolution on a world scale. Its features are the extraordinary dynamism of its fight against imperialism, exploitation, tyranny, persecution and fascism. This revolution is sublime in its objectives, in its content, in its aims, in its direction, in its paths and in its means.
